James Maxwell is a versatile music professional with extensive experience in composition, technology, and artistic direction. As Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of SOMMS.AI since January 2023, James focuses on artificial music intelligence tailored for artists and enterprises. Concurrently, James serves as Co-Artistic Director at Restless Productions and operates as a Freelance Composer since April 2001, creating music commissioned by various ensembles and artists. Previous roles include Co-Founder and CTO of Spliqs Intelligent Media, Co-Founder and iOS Developer at Booked With Casa, and Sessional Instructor at Simon Fraser University. James holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Modelling for Computer-Assisted Music Composition and a Bachelor’s degree from Simon Fraser University.
