Tom Borders

Tom Borders is an experienced professional with a robust background in safety coordination, law enforcement, and production supervision. As the Safety Coordinator at Sonoco since April 2016, Tom focuses on plant safety initiatives. Concurrently, Tom has served as a Reserve Officer with the Jay County Sheriff's Department since 2004, participating in patrol and emergency response efforts. Previously, Tom held various supervisory roles in production at companies such as Sonoco, Jay Products, and Buckhorn Inc., and held the position of Safety Manager at Cooper Farms overseeing feed mill operations. Tom began a career in public service as a Patrolman for the Portland City Police Department and an EMT-A with Jay Co. EMS, where leadership was demonstrated as Director from 1986 to 1987. Tom holds a Bachelor's degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and is a post-certified police officer from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
