Michael Chen has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Michael started their career as a Software Engineer Intern at Verizon Labs in 2017. Michael then worked at IDC Technologies, Inc. as a Full Stack Engineer, where they developed and implemented full stack web applications and integrated them with backend APIs. Michael also developed a Java application to extract, transform, and load records from SQL Server to NoSQL databases.
After that, Michael joined Verizon Labs again as a Software Engineer. In this role, they took on a leadership position and designed and implemented a Java Datagrid SDK that enabled Verizon IoT applications to perform CRUD and search operations with Couchbase/ElasticSearch clusters. Michael also developed back-end Java microservices with NoSQL and maintained and scaled NoSQL clusters across two regions to support millions of IoT device data. Furthermore, they developed tools and KPIs to monitor the performance of NoSQL clusters and participated in production support calls.
Most recently, Michael joined Sony Interactive Entertainment as a Software Engineer.
Michael Chen completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Michigan State University from 2012 to 2016. Michael then pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California from 2016 to 2018. In addition to their formal education, Michael obtained certifications in Amazon Web Services (AWS). In September 2021, they became an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner, and in July 2022, they achieved the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification.
