SOS in a Louisville, KY based global health organization. As one of seven accredited medical surplus recovery organizations (MSRO), SOS partners with hospital across the region to recover usable medical supplies bound for the landfill. Using these supplies, SOS creates access to medical care around the world - delivering supplies and equipment to support rural medical centers across 4 continents. As well as sending cargo containers of medical supplies and equipment to rural hospitals and clinics, SOS supplies medical mission teams that deliver targeted care in the most underserved communities around the world. Locally, SOS partners with schools, animal welfare organizations and social service organizations. Using supplies not suitable for delivery overseas, SOS donates these supplies locally to enhance K-12 education and nursing programs while also donating supplies to local animal hospitals, homeless shelters and community support centers. As one of the most environmentally-concious nonprofits in the region, SOS has saved over 3,000,000 pounds of medical supplies from local landfills while saving lives around the world and enhancing our local community.
