James Pease is a Cataloguer of Contemporary Art at Sotheby's since June 2022, previously serving as a Temp Cataloguer focusing on Science and Popular Culture. From September 2021 to January 2022, James worked as a Research Analyst Intern at the Smithsonian Institution's Cultural Heritage Monitoring Lab, where responsibilities included monitoring global threats to cultural heritage. In summer 2021, James completed an internship at Sotheby's, assisting with the cataloging of objects in renowned sales and leading a Capstone Project. Additional experience includes an Archives Internship at Mitchell-Innes & Nash and serving as Principal Investigator for a student project that reached the International Space Station. James holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Theory of Art and Architecture with a concentration in Physics from Columbia University.
