Jinnet Powel

Substitute Teacher

Jinnet Powel is an experienced educator and artist, with a diverse background in teaching, community outreach, and military intelligence. Jinnet served as a Park Ranger with the National Park Service and contributed to youth engagement as the Lead Educator & Steward Chair for the 4-H Sustainable School Program. Achievements include receiving the Oregon Parent Teacher Association Best Project award and earning Oregon Green Schools Primer Status. Jinnet has also worked as a substitute teacher, successfully implementing positive classroom management and engaging instruction. The educational background includes a Master’s in Teaching from Concordia University-Portland and a Master's in Science Education from Oregon State University, complementing a BA in Art History from Tufts University. Additionally, Jinnet has a history as an artist, creating various 2-D art forms while serving as a Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army.
