Our vision is to use the subsurface as a third dimension to enable farmers to become self-sufficient in fresh water availability, without the farmer having to sacrifice valuable agricultural land. Aquifer Storage Transfer and Recovery as a nature based solution for fresh water buffering. As a result farmers can maintain or increase crop production without being dependent on the weather or external water sources. It reduces the risk of crop losses during periods of drought or salinization or plant diseases that spread through surface water. In addition the system purifies the water so that harmful remnants of pesticides or nutrients are no longer discharged into the environment. Improving the water quality and thus the ecology in a larger area.
In our vision an ASR (aquifer storage and recovery) system works optimal when combined with economical and data-driven use of the harvested and stored water, like subirrigation and drip irrigation. Besides the reduction in water use fertilizer use and often pesticide use can be decreased.
