Lukas Smith

Lukas Smith is an experienced Exploration Geologist currently employed at South32 since April 2021. Prior to this role, Lukas worked as a Core Logger at HR Advantages and as an Instrument Technician at Psomas. Academic contributions include serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where responsibilities encompassed supervising labs and developing models related to ore deposits and volcanology. Earlier roles also include a Lab Assistant position at the Department of Geology, Western Illinois University, focusing on mineral identification and grading, along with military experience as a Team Leader in the US Army, supervising soldiers and conducting training. Lukas holds a Master of Science degree in Economic Geology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and a Bachelor's of Science with Honors in Geology from Western Illinois University.
