Jack is a leader in structural reliability and earthquake loss estimation. In addition to his role as Co-Founder of HB Risk, he is a Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Stanford University, where he also earned M.S. degrees in Statistics and Structural Engineering. He has industry experience in seismic hazard assessment, ground motion selection, probabilistic risk assessment, and modeling of catastrophe losses for insurance and reinsurance companies. He is also the author of a textbook on Seismic Hazard and Risk Analysis. Among his awards, Jack has also received the Shah Family Innovation Prize and Helmut Krawinkler Award.
