Information System Security Manager at SPA

Denny Bernard has extensive work experience in the field of information security and cybersecurity. Denny began their career in 1983 in the United States Air Force, where they held various roles related to computer operations, programming, network operations, and systems management. Denny worked with multiple units, including the 390th ECS, 2036th Communications Squadron, Ankara Air Station, 513th Engineering and Test Squadron, and the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center.

After leaving the military, Denny joined Aura I.S. Technologies as the owner, where they likely gained experience in managing and providing IT solutions. Denny then took on a role with Serco - North America as a Senior Network Engineer and Senior Security Engineer. In this position, they led the planning, design, building, and deployment of the Air Force Space Command Communication Coordination Center Situational Awareness System.

In 2014, Denny joined Lockheed Martin as an Information Assurance Engineer Senior Staff. Denny served as the Cybersecurity Team Lead, overseeing a team of cybersecurity engineers and facility security administrators. Denny also provided engineering and cybersecurity strategic planning and vision as part of the Engineering Strategy Team and Engineering Review Board.

In 2018, Denny moved to Metron, Inc. as the Cybersecurity Team Lead and Information System Security Manager. In this role, they managed cybersecurity policies, hygiene, and information technology management for the ORCA Division and West Coast operating locations. Denny developed Security Management Concept of Operations, risk management framework policies, procedures, and artifacts. Denny also achieved authorization to operate under the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and DISA.

Most recently, Denny joined Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. as an Information System Security Manager in 2022.

Denny Bernard has a strong educational background in information systems and management. Denny earned their Masters degree in Information System Management from the University of Phoenix between 2000 and 2002. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelors degree in Business, Information Systems from the same university from 1998 to 2000. Additionally, Denny pursued their education in Computer Science and Information System Management at the Community College of the Air Force, where they earned two Associate degrees from 1996 to 1998.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Denny Bernard has also obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. In 2010, they achieved the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)². This was followed by the C|CISO certification from EC-Council, which they obtained in November 2017. Most recently, in August 2020, Denny acquired the GIAC Critical Controls Certification (GCCC) from GIAC Certifications.
