Eric Watkins

Eric Watkins has a diverse work experience in the field of mining engineering and data analysis. Eric is currently working as a Data Analyst at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Mining Engineer at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health from 2019 to 2022, where they conducted field studies and developed simulation models to analyze gas inflow in underground coal mines.

Eric also has experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at Virginia Tech Mining and Minerals Engineering from 2016 to 2018, where they led international research projects and utilized software tools for simulating underground mine environments. Eric also worked as a Research Associate at the University of Nottingham in 2017, conducting CFD modeling for foam flow in simulated coal mine environments.

Additionally, Eric worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Mining and Minerals Engineering Department at Virginia Tech from 2015 to 2016.

Eric Watkins completed their Master's of Science in Mining and Mineral Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Insitute and State University from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Mining and Minerals Engineering from Virginia Tech between 2012 and 2016. Additionally, Eric attended the Marine Academy of Science and Technology from 2008 to 2012, although no degree or field of study information was provided for this institution. In terms of certifications, they obtained the Ansys Spaceclaim Course from Ansys in June 2020, the Ansys Fluent Getting Started Course in April 2019, and completed Mine Rescue Skills Training from the Mine Safety and Health Administration in April 2015.
