Gary Prater

Gary Prater is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in space systems operations and engineering. Currently, Gary serves as a Scientific Analyst at Systems Planning & Analysis, focusing on USSPACECOM J8 S&T SETA since April 2023. Prior to this position, Gary held various roles, including Principal Engineer at KBR, Inc. and Branch Chief for Science and Technology at NORAD & US Northern Command, where responsibilities included leading significant projects worth over $320 million. With a background in space strategy and policy from multiple roles in the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command and other military capacities, Gary has developed and integrated advanced space capabilities to support national defense. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Space Systems Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School and further advanced degrees in Engineering/Industrial Management and Aerospace Engineering.
