Kiauna Freeman has a diverse work experience spanning from 2013 to present. Kiauna started their career as a Middle School AVID Tutor at UMD Noyce Tutoring Program, where they helped over 75 students enhance their understanding of mathematics and provided feedback to improve their writing skills. Kiauna then worked as a Data Entry Clerk at Cornerstone Group of Companies (acquired by Deloitte Canada), where they accurately entered individualized data for over 20,000 financial donors into various computer databases and analyzed the data for errors. Kiauna also gained experience as a Film Crew Member at AMC Theatres, where they served guests, maintained auditoriums, and performed concession maintenance duties.
In 2016, Kiauna interned at Convergence Center for Policy Resolution, researching economic issues and summarizing reports on economic mobility. Kiauna also assisted with planning stakeholder dialogue meetings. Kiauna later joined Higher Achievement as a Center Aide and taught math and social studies classes during the Summer Academy. Kiauna developed interactive activities and submitted lesson plans to cater to scholars' strengths and weaknesses.
In 2018, Kiauna became an Americorps Achievement Fellow at Higher Achievement, conducting research and communicating with high schools in Washington D.C. to assist eighth-grade scholars in choosing the best high schools based on their interests and achievements. Kiauna then transitioned to CHARLES COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher. In this role, Kiauna implemented differentiated instruction, created rigorous math lessons, analyzed assessment data, and prepared students for state assessments.
Most recently, in 2023, Kiauna joined Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. as a Financial Analyst.
Kiauna Freeman earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics from the University of Maryland from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they received a High School Diploma in the Scholars Area of Study from Henry E. Lackey High School from 2009 to 2013. In addition, they obtained a certification in Excel Essential Training (Office 365/Microsoft 365) from LinkedIn in July 2022.
