Michael Huck has a diverse work experience in the military and defense industry. Michael started their career in 2008 as a Commanding Officer for the USS HALYBURTON, where they were responsible for the operational employment, safety, maintenance, and administration of a Frigate and its crew. During their tenure, they received personal praise from Secretary of Defense Gates and President George H.

In 2010, Michael Huck transitioned to a role as the Branch Chief for Sea Shield at OPNAV N81P. Michael was accountable for overseeing the operational aspects of naval defense and improving retention. Under their leadership, the Golden Anchor award was earned twice for outstanding retention.

From 2011 to 2013, Michael served as the Branch Chief for Joint Capabilities Integration and Development Systems (JCIDS) at DJ-7. Here, they led a team in building consensus across all Joint Staff Directorates to deliver cost-effective solutions for Joint Force capability gaps. Michael also represented DJ-7 in various boards and personally briefed DJ-7 on Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) efforts.

In 2014, Michael became the Commanding Officer for USS SAN JACINTO, a Guided Missile Cruiser, overseeing its operational employment, crew safety, maintenance, and administration. Their mentorship approach resulted in the ship receiving both the Battle 'E' for operational excellence and the Golden Anchor award for outstanding retention.

In 2016, Michael transitioned to OPNAV N812 as the Branch Chief for Force Structure and N81 Chief of Staff. Michael developed the Navy's Front End Assessment and Warfighting Capability Plan, defining capability risk priorities for the FY2018-2020 budgets. Michael integrated the results of the Strategic Defense Review into the Navy's Force Structure Assessment and built and managed a multi-million dollar analytic plan for the Navy headquarters.

From 2018 to 2019, Michael held the role of Associate Director for Warfighting Assessments at OPNAV N81W, responsible for overseeing warfighting assessments.

Most recently, since 2019, Michael has been working as a Military Operations Analyst at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc.

Throughout their career, Michael Huck has demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic planning, and the ability to make analytically defendable decisions. Michael has a proven track record of achieving operational excellence, improving retention, and delivering cost-effective solutions in the military and defense industry.

Michael Huck has a strong education background in the field of national security policy studies and oceanography. In 1986, they began their undergraduate studies at the United States Naval Academy, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography in 1990. Following this, they pursued further education at the Naval Postgraduate School from 1996 to 1998, earning a Master of Science degree in Oceanography. Later, in 2002 and 2003, they attended the U.S. Naval War College, where they completed a Master of Arts degree in National Security Policy Studies. In addition to their formal education, Huck obtained a certification in Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in September 2018.
