Joshua Western

Joshua Western has a diverse work experience in various sectors. Joshua is the CEO & Co-Founder of Space Forge Ltd, where they are leading the development of a returnable manufacturing platform that utilizes the benefits of the space environment to create new materials. Joshua co-founded the company in 2018.

In addition to their role at Space Forge, Joshua is currently working as an Advisor at Type One Ventures since 2022. Joshua is also a Member of Greentech Alliance since 2020, where they contribute to promoting environmentally friendly approaches to space technology.

Prior to their current roles, Joshua worked at the UK Space Agency from 2016 to 2020. Joshua held several roles during their tenure, including National Space Programme Delivery, where they assisted in the development of the business case for the UK's National Space Innovation Programme and led the establishment of the sustainability stream for greener uses of the space environment. Joshua also served as the Technology Harmonisation Lead, collaborating with European counterparts to drive forward technological advancements. Additionally, they served as the Sector Resilience Manager, building a designated Critical National Infrastructure capability within the agency.

Before joining the UK Space Agency, Joshua worked at Thales Alenia Space from 2015 to 2020. In this role, they were involved in Business Development & Marketing, developing sales campaigns and supporting marketing and sales campaigns. Joshua was recognized as an Innovation Fellow for their ability to identify new opportunities for space technologies. Joshua also served as an Assistant Commercial Officer, responsible for the commercial interface on projects and contributing to internal financials.

Joshua's earlier experience includes working as a Commercial Officer at Thales from 2014 to 2015, where they played a key role in securing a project worth over £14 million and implemented an operational efficiency plan.

Joshua Western attended the University of Hull from 2011 to 2014, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Politics.
