Ed Mitchard

Ed Mitchard is the Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of Space Intelligence Ltd, which specializes in nature mapping data and provides satellite-based maps for monitoring land cover and deforestation. They co-founded the company in 2018 after leaving the University of Edinburgh, where they previously held a position as a Professor of Global Change Mapping. Over their career, Ed has conducted extensive research on carbon storage in forests across 13 tropical countries and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles. They have successfully secured over $8 million in research funding, leading innovative methods in machine learning and satellite data analysis. Currently, Ed leads a team of 56 at Space Intelligence, focusing on strategy, product development, and client relations.
