Space Transcribers is a critical platform that questions the contemporary built environment in terms of its representation and collective imaginary. We believe that any contemporary place is equipotential of meaning and interpretation in its multiple layers of time, history, spaces and agents. We are focused in pushing the stabilized notion of architecture into other artistic and scientific fields, expanding it in order to develop and explore new tools capable of strengthening our capacities of reading and interpreting common places. Our methodology is focused mainly in “in situ” actions, engaging closely with the places we work with, in a constant quest of contents and processes that can be transcribed into structured narratives and operations. Based in Portugal, this international network was founded in 2015 and its research team is spread all over Europe in Braga, Berlin, Lille and Amsterdam.
