David Harris

Acting General Counsel at SpaceX

David Harris is currently the Acting General Counsel at SpaceX. Prior to that, they served as a Program Manager and Intelligence Officer for the Department of Army from January 2005 to December 2010. David also served as a Lieutenant and Intelligence Officer for the U.S. Navy Reserve from January 2003 to December 2013. Additionally, Harris has experience working in the legal field as International Counsel for MCI from January 2002 to December 2004 and as Assistant General Counsel - International for UUNET from January 1999 to December 2002. Harris began their career as an Associate Attorney at Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald from January 1995 to December 1999.

David Harris attended the University of Virginia for their undergraduate degree, where they studied mathematics. David then went on to attend the University of Virginia School of Law, where they obtained their J.D. After working for a time in the legal field, Harris decided to return to school to obtain their M.S. in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University.

They are on a team with Jon Edwards - VP, Falcon Launch Vehicles, Samuel Gibbs IV - VP, Starlink Business Operations, and Tom Ochinero - VP, Commercial Sales. David Harris reports to Gwynne Shotwell, President & COO.
