Matt Sheckells

Matt Sheckells is a Senior GNC Engineer at SpaceX, currently focusing on control, planning, estimation, and perception in mobile robotic systems. Sheckells has previously held positions such as a GNC Engineer II at SpaceX and a Software Development Engineer in Test intern at Microsoft, where they designed and implemented tests for Xbox applications. Sheckells also served as a student researcher at the Space Telescope Science Institute, developing an optics simulator and a C++ program to optimize beam shaping. They earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a focus on Robotics from The Johns Hopkins University, where they also completed a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Physics.
