Matthew Baumann

Matthew Baumann currently serves as the Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition since September 2024. Concurrently, Matthew is a Secretary of Defense Executive Fellow at SpaceX, focusing on executive-level strategy and organizational methodologies. With an extensive background in the United States Marine Corps since 2003, Matthew has held various roles, including Developmental Test Pilot, Experimental Test Pilot, and Squadron Commanding Officer at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO ONE (HX-21). Previous positions also include Deputy Program Manager for both PMA-261 and PMA-275 at Naval Air Systems Command, overseeing the H-53E and V-22 aircraft programs. Academic qualifications include a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
