Senior Business Operations Program Manager at SPAN

Emily Foster has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Emily is currently working as a Senior Security and Compliance Program Manager at SPAN since December 2022. Before joining SPAN, Emily worked at Volta Charging as a Senior Technical Program Manager from March 2022 to December 2022, where they managed third-party certification and testing of EV charging station hardware and firmware and formed the Compliance Program. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Program Manager at Swell Energy from May 2021 to March 2022, leading the Long Island Battery Rewards Program and the Queens Virtual Power Plant Programs in New York City. Emily also partnered with OEMs for UL9540A certification and proposed code changes for future energy storage programs.

Emily also has experience at VMware, where they worked as a Technical Program Manager II from January 2020 to May 2021. During their time at VMware, they formed and ran the Compliance Program, enabling engineering teams to achieve compliance goals across healthcare, financial, and government sectors. Emily also led the integration of Pivotal R&D engineering and product teams with VMware. Before VMware, they worked as a Technical Program Manager at Pivotal Software, Inc. from June 2018 to December 2019.

Emily's work experience also includes roles at Energy Solutions, where they served as an Information Systems Manager II from July 2017 to June 2018, leading hardware, software, and production operations teams for efficiency and distributed storage and generation programs. Prior to that, they were an Operations Project Manager from January 2016 to June 2017, leading executive and client-facing projects and achieving SOC 2 certification and cost savings through system migration. Emily joined Energy Solutions as an Operations Associate in August 2014 and worked until December 2015.

Before their career in the energy industry, Emily worked at Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) as a Land Stewardship Intern from December 2013 to May 2014, where they supported property management and acquisition through mapping, database management, and research. Emily also gained research experience as a Research Team Member at UCLA from September 2012 to June 2013, developing a land use management plan and conducting surveys and interviews.

Emily Foster attended UCLA from 2011 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Science.
