Irene Yang has over 10 years of work experience in hardware engineering. Irene started their career as a Research Intern at Mitsubishi Electric Japan, where they designed performance testing for state-of-the-art optical Ethernet network modules. Irene then worked as an Electrical Engineering Intern at NeuroVigil, where they led the redesign of circuits and firmware for portable EEG devices. Irene also served as a Teaching Assistant for a Mechatronics Course at the California Institute of Technology, where they taught students about various sensors and actuators and provided assistance with circuit debugging.
Moving on, Irene joined Amazon Lab126 as a Hardware Development Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for the hardware integration and design of lighting and audio systems for the Amazon Cloud Cam. Irene also managed electrical validation specifications for the product development cycle. Irene continued to advance at Amazon Lab126, transitioning to the role of Senior Hardware Engineer and taking ownership of circuit board and flex PCB design for consumer electronic products, including Kindle Fire HDX.
After their time at Amazon Lab126, Irene worked at Plume Design, Inc as a Senior Hardware Engineer and later as a Principal System Engineer. During their tenure, they led the electrical engineering efforts for the SuperPod: Wall-Pluggable Triband Mesh WiFi Router and collaborated with teams in both the Taipei and Palo Alto offices. Irene also maintained relationships with IC vendors, component suppliers, and manufacturer's representatives, and filed a patent for a compact, direct-plugged, and high-performance Wi-Fi Access Point.
Currently, Irene is employed at Argo AI as a Senior Hardware Engineer, where they contribute their expertise to the development of autonomous vehicle technology. In September 2022, they will be joining SPAN as a Staff Hardware Engineer.
