Gio Wan has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. In 2013, they worked as a Facility Evaluation Co-op Student at Alberta Infrastructure. In 2015, they were a Major Projects Cost Engineering Co-op Student at Enbridge Pipelines. In 2018, they worked as a Technical Service Representative at Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) via Compugen, providing computer support at CNRL's Albian Sands location. They also worked at Freedom Mobile as a Retail Specialist, responsible for sales and customer service, and later became a Team Lead, ensuring sales targets were met and coaching team members. From 2018 to 2020, Gio worked at Equinox Engineering Ltd. as a Project Engineer (E.I.T.), involved in various stages of pipeline projects and creating project documents. Currently, Gio is a Developer at Sparkgeo.

Gio Wan obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, which was completed between the years 2011 and 2016. Following this, they pursued further education at Lighthouse Labs, where they completed a program in Web Development as a Full Stack Developer. The completion of this program occurred in 2021.
