Hau Duong has a long and varied work experience. Hau began their career in 1988 as a Research Physicist at General Atomics, then moved to the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab in 1993, where they worked as a Research Physicist. In 1998, they became a Sr. Engineering Manager & Director of Instrumentation at CMS, A Motorola Company. In 2002, they were appointed Vice President of Product Development and Engineering at Nanostream. In 2006, they moved to Gyrus ACMI, A Group Company of Olympus Corp., where they held the position of Vice President of R&D. In 2008, they took on multiple roles, including Vice President of Product Development at Superprotonic, Board Member of Technical Advisory Committee at Live Tissue Connect, and Technology and Management Consultant at HDC. In 2009, they became the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of SAFCell, Inc. Most recently, in 2021, they were appointed VP of Engineering at Spatial Genomics, Inc.
Hau Duong's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of California, Los Angeles, obtained between 1983 and 1987. Hau then went on to obtain a PhD in Physics from UC Irvine between 1987 and 1993. After that, they received a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Plasma and High-Temperature Physics, Nuclear Fusion from Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory between 1993 and 1997. Finally, they obtained an MBA in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Ottawa in 1996-1997.
