Shawn Neely

Shawn Neely has over 30 years of work experience in the field of software engineering and user experience. Shawn began their career in 1989 as an Animation Software Engineer at Cubicomp Canada, Ltd. Shawn then moved to Pacific Data Images (PDI) in 1990 as a Sr. R&D Technical Director, where they developed custom software tools for artists on projects including TV commercials, music videos, live-action special effects and animated feature films. In 1998, they took on a similar role at PDI/DreamWorks. In 2000, they became a Principal Software Engineer at Believe, Inc. and in 2002, they were appointed as the Director of User Experience at Kaleidescape, Inc. In 2004, they joined Pixar Animation Studios as a Technical Director / Senior Software Engineer, Studio Tools, and focused on image processing and color pipeline. In 2020, they joined Spatial as a Senior Engineer.

Shawn Neely obtained their Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo in 1986, followed by a Master of Mathematics degree in Computer Science from the same university in 1988.
