SPEAK is an independent, non profit campaign working to strengthen protection for free expression in the UK. We focus on how existing communications laws are used in practice, including the thousands of arrests each year for online speech, and make the case for clear, proportionate rules that protect both free expression and public order.

We combine data driven research, case studies and accessible social media content to explain what is happening and why it matters. SPEAK works with lawyers, academics, campaigners and policymakers to build practical, cross-party reforms of speech laws and to support a culture in which people can express their views without fear of arrest. Potential partners, funders and collaborators are very welcome to get in touch.
