Ian Brown has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Ian started as a Business Support Executive at Virgin Atlantic, where they built relationships and managed processes related to new business. Ian then moved on to roles as a Service, Design, and Delivery Analyst and an IT Security Analyst, where they handled responsibilities such as threat and vulnerability management and liaising with internal and external audit teams. Ian later transitioned to the position of Information Security Manager at Merlin Entertainments plc, followed by Head of Information Security at the British Heart Foundation. Most recently, they held the roles of Group Cyber Security Director and Group CISO at Spectris plc. Additionally, during their time at Spectris, they also took on the position of Interim Group Cyber Security Director at HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær, where they led information and cyber security activities.
Ian Brown completed their Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from Henley Business School, which they attended from 2019 to 2022. Prior to that, they obtained their high school degree from Ifield Community College, where they earned 11 GCSEs between 2000 and 2006. Additionally, Ian has obtained several certifications, including Certified Information Security Manager from ISACA in October 2018, Certified EU GDPR Foundation and Practitioner from The Knowledge Academy in December 2017, CISSP from (ISC)² in November 2017, ITIL Foundation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in February 2017, and Certificate in Information Security Management Principles from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in February 2014.
