David Johnson has a diverse work experience in engineering and manufacturing roles. David began their career in the United States Air Force, where they served as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist for B1 Bombers. David Johnson has a diverse education history. Prior to that, from 1986 to 1990, they studied Aeronautics Engineering and Technologies at the Community College of the Air Force. In 1997 and 1998, they obtained an AutoCAD Drafting Certificate from Kilgore College, specializing in AutoCAD Drafting and Design I and II.

David Johnson has acquired additional certifications to supplement their education. In 1990, they obtained an FAA Airframe and Powerplant License from Texas State Technical Institute/AeroTech International. Later, in 2008, they earned a TCV Lean Black Belt certification from TBM Consultants/EnPro Industries.
