Jae Eun Choi has a diverse work experience. In 2011, they began working as a Clinical Research Associate/Asst. Biostatistician at the UCSF Medical Center, where they performed clinical research administration for Phase I and Phase II investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored pharmacological trials in pediatric Autism Spectrum Disorders. In 2013, they worked as a Clinical Research Intern at West Health, where they designed and implemented procedures for the creation and approval of Project Quality Plans for clinical research involving the clinical, compliance and legal departments. In 2014, they worked as a Medical Student Research Fellow at the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research, where they evaluated perioperative neutrophil:lymphocyte ratio and postoperative NSAID use as predictors of survival after surgical resection in a retrospective cohort of adult non-small cell lung cancer patients. In 2016, they worked as a Medical Research Fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, where they conducted transcriptome-based discovery analysis of the mechanism of differential response to inhibitors vs. degraders of the bromodomain and extraterminal domain family of proteins in MCPyV+ and MCPyV- human Merkel Cell Carcinoma cell lines. In 2017, they began working as a PhD Candidate in Cancer Biology at the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School, where they revealed a novel fundamental role for transcriptional regulation of dendritic cell function through a lipid kinase to modulate cancer immunity and immunotherapy strategies. Finally, in 2019, they began working as the Chief Research Officer at SpellBound, where they lead internal and collaborative research projects with children's hospitals and clinicians to understand how their augmented reality experiences reduce pain and opioid consumption in the most critically ill children in the hospital.

Jae Eun Choi attended Macalester College from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Jae Eun then attended University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School from 2017 to 2022, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Cancer Biology. Lastly, they attended UC San Diego from 2013 to 2023, where they earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD).
