Tod Johnston

Tod Johnston has held a variety of roles in education since 2004. Tod began their career as a Teacher in International Schools in China, where they were trained and certified in the IB Primary Years Programme and administered the middle school division. Tod then moved to Etna Elementary School, where they served as Science Instructor and GATE Coordinator, providing grade K-6 students with hands-on science lessons that integrated CA state standards with other classroom disciplines. In 2009, Johnston became a Teacher at Riverdale Gradeschool, where they maintained strong connections with all classroom stakeholders and developed a service-learning project with Tryon Creek State Park. In 2011, they moved to Sunset Primary School, where they piloted a 1:1 iPad classroom and aligned curriculum to implement Common Core Math and Language Arts Standards and Next Generation Science standards. Most recently, Johnston joined Clarity Innovations, Inc. in 2014 as a Learning Experience Designer. In this role, they designed, wrote, and produced digital and print curriculum and professional learning materials on various topics, consulted directly with clients, and presented at regional and national technology and mathematics education conferences. In 2021, they began their current role as Senior Education Content Manager at Sphero.

Tod Johnston has an education history that includes a B.S. from Stanford University in Earth Systems from 1997 to 2001, and an M.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz in Education from 2002 to 2003. Tod also holds certifications from California CTC, Google, and OR TSPC, including a CA CLAD Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Google Certified Educator Level 1, Google Certified Educator Level 2, and an OR K-8 Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
