Spielkind was founded in 2005 by its managing directors Mattias Frik, Wolfgang Fritsch and Kim Gebauer. Their goal was to represent extraordinary European actors on international as well as German-speaking markets in close cooperation with agents and managers all over the world.

Starting with the German talent agency DIE INTRIGE, Mattias Frik and Kim Gebauer have been working together since 2001 representing German talent. Wolfgang Fritsch has worked as a manager for many years.

In 2007 Spielkind opened up a boutique directors division.
Both Spielkind Music and Spielkind Publishing were  founded in 2008.
