James McCafferty has extensive experience in the fields of health and safety as well as mechanical engineering, currently serving as a Site Health and Safety Adviser at Spire since October 2015. In this role, James oversees health and safety compliance and fosters a safety culture within the organization. Previous experience includes roles as a Spacecraft Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer and Satellite/spacecraft Technician, where responsibilities included mechanical design support, prototyping, and environmental testing. Prior to Spire, James spent nearly a decade at Baker Hughes in various technician roles, where training and mentoring of local technicians were key responsibilities. James' career also includes positions at Tierney Strachan Consulting, Aker Kvaerner, and IBM United Kingdom Ltd, with a focus on manufacturing, quality engineering, and compliance with safety standards. James completed a four-year apprenticeship at James Watt College in Electronics, Computing, and Network Support.
