Jonathan Beezley

Principal Engineer at Spire

Jonathan Beezley has extensive work experience in various engineering roles. Jonathan currently holds the position of Principal Engineer at Spire since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at TIFIN from 2022 to 2023. Before joining TIFIN, Jonathan was a Senior Software Engineer at Spire from 2021 to 2022, where they worked with a small team responsible for serving live and archival weather data.

Jonathan also has experience as a Staff Research and Development Engineer at Kitware Inc. from 2014 to 2021, where they filled multiple roles including full stack web developer, scientific simulation consultant, devops engineer, and data scientist. Jonathan specialized in bringing research code into production.

Earlier in their career, Jonathan worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at CERFACS from 2012 to 2013, where they researched data assimilation methods for Météo-France's weather forecasting system. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant at Weather It Is from 2011 to 2012, developing operational wildfire prediction software.

Jonathan's work experience also includes roles as an Assistant Research Professor and Research Assistant at the University of Colorado Denver from 2005 to 2012, where they developed and maintained wildfire research code and assisted in the maintenance and administration of supercomputing and server facilities.

Jonathan Beezley earned a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado Denver, where they studied from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from the same university from 2004 to 2006. Jonathan also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, which they obtained from 1998 to 2001.
