Malcolm McRobb has extensive work experience in the field of mechanical engineering and research. Malcolm has served as the Mechanical Design Lead Engineer at Spire since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Lead Engineer in Satellite Configuration & Layout at Mangata Networks from 2022 to 2023. Malcolm also held positions at AAC Clyde Space, where they were the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader from 2021 to 2022 and a Senior Mechanical Engineer from 2019 to 2021. Malcolm worked as a Research Associate at the University of Glasgow from 2018 to 2019. Before that, they were a Mechanical Engineer at Clyde Space Ltd from 2014 to 2018. Malcolm began their career in research roles at the University of Glasgow, where they served as a Research Associate from 2013 to 2014 and a Research Assistant from 2012 to 2013.

Malcolm McRobb earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, which they pursued from 2003 to 2008. Malcolm furthered their education at the same university, completing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from 2008 to 2013. In addition to their degrees, Malcolm obtained several certifications, including CEng MIMechE from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in April 2017, and Certified Associate - Mechanical Design (CSWA) from Dassault Systèmes in the same year. Malcolm also holds certifications in project management and first-line management, obtained in 2011.
