VP Creative - New Ventures at Splinterlands

Carey Chico has extensive experience in the gaming industry, with a focus on product development and creative design.

Starting in 2002, Chico worked as an Executive Art Director and Producer at Pandemic Studios, where they led a team of over 100 artists across multiple console teams.

In 2010, Chico co-founded Globex Studios LA and served as the Chief Creative Officer. They developed the product roadmap and strategic vision for MMO games, leading a global team and overseeing the US office. They also generated $10 million in fundraising over a two-year period.

From 2012 to 2014, Chico founded and served as Chief Creative at Zero Mass Energy, where they successfully developed games and provided consultancy support to other studios.

From 2014 to 2016, Chico co-founded Bonanza Media and acted as the Chief Product Officer. They led the vision, roadmap, production, and art direction for mobile free-to-play games based on Dreamworks IP.

From 2016 to 2021, Chico founded and served as Chief Product Officer at Ballparq, a web app startup focused on financial models for entrepreneurs. They led the product vision and strategy based on market feedback.

Chico then served as the Chief Product Officer at Stage11 from 2021 to 2022, where they led the development of an NFT/blockchain-based Mixed Reality Metaverse social platform.

In 2022, Chico held various roles in different companies. They served as the VP Creative - New Ventures at Splinterlands, where they led the vision for NFT/blockchain-based game products. They also advised aradena.io, an NFT/blockchain game, on game design, economy, and production. At Six Foot, Chico took on the role of Chief Product Officer, leading product vision, publishing, and platform strategy for multiple studio objectives within the AAA web2/web3 gaming space.

Carey Chico has a Master of Business Administration degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business. Prior to that, Carey Chico obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design from UCLA. Additionally, Carey Chico completed high school at Bellarmine College Preparatory.
