Jan Van Balen

Jan Van Balen is a Senior Research Scientist at Spotify, where they focus on recommender systems, music information retrieval, and machine learning. Jan completed a PhD at Universiteit Utrecht from 2012 to 2016 and subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Antwerp in 2020. Prior to their current role at Spotify, they served as an Applied Researcher at Apple from 2016 to 2019. Jan holds a Master's degree from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a Bachelor's degree from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
