Simon Durand

Simon Durand is a Senior Research Scientist at Spotify, where since June 2017, Simon has been involved in advancing the understanding of music audio signals to enhance user experience on the platform. Key contributions include developing a singing language identification audio model, a lyric alignment model for Karaoke, and a content-aware recommendation model. Prior to Spotify, Simon completed a PhD at Télécom ParisTech focusing on automatic downbeat tracking of music audio signals, and has held teaching and internship positions at UPMC - Sorbonne Universities, New York University, and various engineering schools. Simon's educational background includes an Engineer's degree from SUPMECA, a Master's degree in Dynamics from CentraleSupélec, and a Master's in Computer Science from Pierre and Marie Curie University.
