Joel Eckhause

Joel Eckhause is currently the COO at Spring Labs. Prior to that, they were the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Renew Financial from December 2017 to April 2019. Joel was responsible for credit & operating risk, risk operations, product, and analytics at Renew Financial.

Before Renew Financial, Joel was at Bank of the West from January 2016 to December 2017 as the SVP and head of direct residential lending. Joel was responsible for Product Management, Direct to Consumer Lending, Strategy, and Innovation for Mortgage, Home Equity, and Unsecured Lending. Joel was also executive champion for the bank’s consumer lending “fintech” partnership strategy. Some of their accomplishments include recruiting and leading a team across three sites focused on pricing, product management, direct to consumer channel, and digital strategy; standing up a digitally enabled, direct-to-consumer business for Consumer & Residential Lending; developing and implementing product management infrastructure, including dashboards, key performance indicators, business reviews, product P&Ls, and a market-back new product development approach; and introducing and launching a “Fintech” point-of-sale platform to Home Loans to materially improve customer experience.

Joel Eckhause received their Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Joel also has a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS from Lehigh University.

They are on a team with Cris Neckar - CISO, Nate Schmitt - General Counsel, and Shellie Schumaker - Chief Compliance & Data Privacy Officer. Their manager is John Sun, CEO & Founder.
