Tempest Plott has been working in the field of research since 2013. In 2013, they were a Student Researcher in Population Genetics at the University of California, Davis. The following year, they worked as a Student Researcher in Gut Microbiology at the same university. In 2015, they became a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Davis, where they focused on differentiating humans via hair protein, using shot-gun proteomics and exome sequencing. Additionally, they served as a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer and a Research Associate in the Post-Harvest Laboratory. In 2017, Tempest Plott began working as a Research Associate at Crescendo Bioscience, where they characterized and improved ELISA assays in two platforms (MSD and Luminex platforms). Tempest also designed, performed, and troubleshot experiments to test reagents and hardware. In 2018, they were a Research Associate at Freenome. Currently, Tempest Plott is a Research Associate at Spring Discovery.
Tempest Plott completed a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis in 2015. Following this, Plott earned a Master's degree in Forensic Science and Technology from the same university in 2017.
