Jojo’s love of teaching literacy is inspired by his mother, who is a lifelong language and literacy educator. He began his career with a teaching fellowship in New York City, earning a masters and his certification while teaching kindergarten. Following the same grade through fourth grade and then becoming an assistant principal at the same school, Jojo saw the crucial importance of fostering school-family partnerships and learner self-efficacy – both core components of Springboard’s model.
Jojo holds an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, an M.S. in childhood development from Touro College, and a B.A. in Geography from Dartmouth College. His favorite book to read with his students was “Last Stop on Market Street” by Matt de la Peña, a story that invites readers to reflect on the beauty and kindness around them.
