Shelly Shires (She/Her/Hers)

Shelly is a passionate and seasoned executive, with extensive experience in product and technology in the global digital education and virtual learning industries. Throughout her impressive career, spanning stints at companies including Pearson, Shutterstock, and Wall Street English, she has worked extensively in instructional and curriculum design, product and technology management, and end-to-end lifecycle development.

Shelly began her career working at the Baltimore County Public Library, where she created various digital tools, including digital books, digital databases, and a self-checkout feature. Most recently, Shelly worked for Pearson as senior vice president of product and technology at Pearson Online and Blended Learning. In this role, she led a team of 12 senior leaders and 590 employees, spearheading product visions, roadmaps, and requirements to deliver world-class teaching and learning products serving hundreds of thousands of students.

Shelly holds a BA in geography and environmental systems from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, an MS in information systems management from the same university, and is on track to complete a Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction at Liberty University in 2023. Shelly's favorite book as a child was A Giraffe and a Half by Shel Silverstein and she resides in Baltimore, MD with her family.
