Joe Nelson

Joe Nelson, raised in the Village and educated at the University of California, Los Angeles, currently serves as the President of Alaska Legal Services Corporation, providing legal aid to low-income and disadvantaged communities. They have held various leadership roles, including Co-Chair at the Alaska Federation of Natives and Vice Chancellor at the University of Alaska Southeast. With extensive experience as Chairman of Sealaska and Yak-tat Kwaan, Joe has dedicated their career to supporting Native Alaskan interests and community services. In addition to their legal career, Joe has also worked as a commercial fisherman and served on multiple boards, demonstrating a commitment to the Greater Good.
