Mark Andrus has over 27 years of experience in the tax industry, specializing in Research and Development (R&D) credits. Mark started their career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 1994, where they worked as a Tax Manager handling R&D credit projects for high-tech companies in the Portland area. Mark then joined Grant Thornton LLP in 1999, where they served as a Senior Partner until their retirement in 2021. During their time at Grant Thornton, they built the R&D credit consulting practice from scratch and played a key role in shaping regulatory policy and exam practices. Mark also trained and mentored numerous R&D credit specialists across different firms. In 2021, they co-founded SPRX, a company that develops R&D credit automation tools to help businesses save time and money. Mark Andrus has a strong track record of successfully representing clients in IRS and state exams, appeals, and mediation hearings.
Mark Andrus completed their high school education at San Luis Obispo Senior High in an unknown time frame. Following this, they attended Brigham Young University from 1988 to 1994 and earned a Master of Accountancy degree with a focus on Tax Accounting.
