Joe Cooney

As COO, Joe oversees the company’s fiber engineering and construction operations nationwide with a focus on safety, quality control, scalability of systems, and the regional expansion of FTTH, 5G (macro and small cell) activities. Joe joined SQUAN in 2022 and brings over 35 years’ experience in telecommunications engineering and construction, electrical construction, and IT systems implementation and management. He is a seasoned, pragmatic leader who has a wholistic view of SQUAN’s growing lines of businesses.

Joe has played key management roles at Fortune 100 companies such as Verizon and HP, in addition to over 16 years at Unity International Group as President of its IT services business, and more recently as General Manager of its full service electrical contracting business in New Jersey. Immediately before joining SQUAN, Joe served as President of a notable NYC-based telecommunications and electrical construction company.

Joe holds a MS in Telecommunications Engineering from NYU Polytechnic and BE in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
