Courtenay O'Connor

General Counsel at Squarespace

Courtenay O'Connor is the General Counsel at Squarespace. Courtenay has held this position since November 2016.

Prior to joining Squarespace, Ms. O'Connor served as Deputy General Counsel at Gizmodo Media Group from April 2015 to November 2016. In that role, they were responsible for Gawker Media's litigation and First Amendment practice.

From September 2009 to July 2010, Ms. O'Connor served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Ms. O'Connor began their legal career as a Counsel at Hearst Corporation from August 2010 to April 2015. During their time at Hearst, they also served as a First Amendment Fellow from June 2008 to July 2009.

Before joining Hearst, Ms. O'Connor was an Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP from June 2006 to June 2008.

Courtenay O'Connor completed a CORe program at Harvard Business School Online before going on to earn their Doctor of Law from the University of Michigan Law School. Courtenay majored in political science as an undergraduate at Wellesley College.
