The idea for Squire came to us one Sunday Funday while floating around in Tim's 21' round. We were bored and needed something to do, so Sam grabbed a floating drink holder, stuck it under the rail and challenged Borisz to skip a toy disc at it.

A couple hours later, we had rules and a handful of neighbors who wanted in.

While we were playing that day, the disc occasionally skipped out of the pool. We got tired of getting out, so we created a rule: the team that wants to play next has to grab the discs that end up in the grass.

We're not exactly sure when we started calling them squires but they were helping us out like a squire helps a knight and it just felt right.

The disc would skip out and we'd yell 'Squire!' at the top of our lungs in our worst English accent and it was game on.

As we continued to develop Squire, it occurred to us, as pool owners, that the "helping others" philosophy didn’t just apply to the game. It applied to what it means to own a pool. We help each other when opening for the summer, closing for winter, balancing chemicals, troubleshooting that weird rattling noise, pretty much anything.

Squire is a game. But it's also a community. It’s a badge of honor. It's a way of life.

So to all those pool owners out there, all those Squires... Splash. Skip. Score. And Squire on.
