Bruce Macdonald leads SQW's economic development team in Edinburgh. He graduated in economics from Edinburgh University in 1988 and worked as a researcher in the economics department at Aberdeen University before joining SQW in 1994.
Over the last 26 years he has directed and managed a wide range of projects, including, appraisals and evaluations, economic impact studies, strategies and the development of monitoring frameworks. Much of this experience relates to measuring the impact of public policy interventions in various forms. This has included research in business support, innovation and productivity, tourism, culture and events, inward investment and international trade as well as social and community projects.
Bruce has led major projects for clients including UK Government departments, Innovate UK, the British Business Bank, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Visit Britain, the Big Lottery, Sport England and the European Commission.
