John Nolan

John has over 15 years' experience working in economic development. His main areas of expertise are economic appraisal and evaluation, economic impact assessments, sector studies and the development of economic development strategies for clients across the UK. John's main areas of interest are spatial development and business competitiveness.

John is part of the SQW team currently carrying out the monitoring and evaluation of Local Growth Interventions across 11 major UK cities for the Cities and Local Growth Unit. As part of this work, he is managing the evaluations of the Glasgow City Region Infrastructure Fund, as well as the investment funds in the Leeds and Liverpool City Regions.

He is an experienced project manager and recent studies include: developing a Skills Investment Plan for the Highlands and Islands on behalf of Skills Development Scotland; supporting the University of Glasgow to carry out a Science and Innovation Audit on Precision Medicine in Scotland; and the development of a new economic strategy for Mid and East Antrim. He also recently managed the evaluation of Scottish Development International and is part of the team evaluating the Digital Catapult for Innovate UK.
