Mark Reed

Mark Reed is a distinguished academic and leader in environmental research and rural entrepreneurship, currently serving as Director of the Natural Capital Challenge Centre and Professor of Rural Entrepreneurship at SRUC since December 2020. Mark holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Fast Track Impact Ltd, where training is provided to researchers for impactful work. As Research Lead for the IUCN UK Peatland Programme and Co-Chair of the Global Peatlands Initiative Research Working Group under the UN Environment Programme, Mark plays a vital role in peatland conservation efforts globally. Additionally, Mark holds various professorships at multiple universities, including Newcastle University, Birmingham City University, and the University of Leeds, contributing expertise in socio-technical innovation and interdisciplinary environmental research. Mark's educational background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds, a Master's Degree in Forest Management from the University of Aberdeen, and a Bachelor's in Tropical Environmental Science from the same institution.
