Ben Kowing

Ben Kowing serves as the Vice President and Chief Technical Officer for SSAB Americas, where leadership encompasses Technical Services, R&D, QA, Applications Engineering, and Continuous Improvement initiatives, with additional responsibilities for safety since 2022. Kowing has held various roles at SSAB, including Head of Sales Development and Technical Director for West Europe, and has extensive experience in customer engagement and engineering solutions for high-strength steel products. Prior to SSAB, Kowing worked at Alcoa, where responsibilities included area management and continuous improvement leadership in manufacturing, as well as technical marketing for automotive clients. Kowing’s career began at LTV Steel as an Automotive Development Engineer. Educational qualifications include an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a BS in Materials Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
